Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 24, 2026
MyBrainBook is a Mac app that keeps a student's notes, class recordings and school PDFs in a folder on their own computer. This policy explains what data the app touches and where it goes.
What stays on your Mac
- Your notes, chats, class recordings and PDFs live in Documents/MyBrainBook on your computer. We don't have servers that store them, and we can't see them.
- Keys and sign-in tokens you add (Groq, Google) are stored encrypted with your macOS keychain.
Services you choose to connect
- ChatGPT (OpenAI, via Codex): when you chat or file a class/PDF, the relevant notes are sent to OpenAI under your own ChatGPT account to produce the answer. OpenAI's terms and privacy policy apply.
- Transcription: "On this Mac" never sends audio anywhere. If you choose Groq, the class audio is sent to Groq to be transcribed under your own key.
- Google Calendar: if you connect it, MyBrainBook requests only permission to create its own "MyBrainBook" calendar and manage the events in it (scope
calendar.app.created) plus your email address to show which account is connected. It cannot read or change your other calendars. Events are created only after you approve them in the app.
Google user data
MyBrainBook's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We don't sell Google user data, don't use it for ads, and don't transfer it to anyone. The data never leaves your computer except to talk directly to Google.
Deleting your data
- Delete the Documents/MyBrainBook folder to remove all your notes and recordings.
- Disconnect Google in Integrations, and revoke access anytime at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Analytics
The app has no analytics or tracking.
